The TDP has the habit of opposing any investment coming to Andhra Pradesh, whenever the party is in opposition.
The TDP leaders make hue and cry on one reason or the other, while in opposition, when the government proposes any new project or brings any new industry to the state.
The latest is the TDP’s opposition to the Bulk Drug Park proposed by the Central government in the State.
TDP senior leader and former finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu wrote a letter to the Central Ministry of Fertilisers and Chemicals opposing the bulk drug park proposed in Kakinada district.
The opposition started with the TDP holding a movement when then chief minister Nedurumilli Janardhan Reddy gave permissions for engineering and medical colleges in the private sector.
The TDP, while in opposition also opposed the Hi-Tech City at Madhapur, which was also proposed and started by Janardhan Reddy.
But, today, the TDP, to be very specific, Chandrababu Naidu makes tall claims about the engineering and medical colleges and the Hi-Tech city as if they were his brain child projects.
The TDP also opposing opening of Textile Park in Nandigama area of then Krishna district between 2004 and 2014, when the party was in opposition.
The TDP conducted protest rallies and padayatra against Pothireddipadu head regulator project initiated by late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. But the party claims all credit for the irrigation projects to Rayalaseema, particularly Pulivendula area.
The TDP also opposed Jala Yagnam programme launched by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy in the past and today the same TDP talks about inter-linking of rivers.
The TDP opposed the Polavaram Right Main Canal and encouraged the farmers to file cases in the high court, as the canal was planned even before starting the main project. However, when the TDP came to power, it had completed the balance 10 per cent of the canal and claimed it as the Pattiseema river!
