It was only on Sunday that Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu told his party MPs to stay put in Delhi and continue their fight demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
Their vain bid to lay siege to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s house and their arrest by the Delhi police brought them a lot of attention in the national media. They declared that they would not give up their fight come what may.
But on Monday, Naidu suddenly told the MPs through a teleconference to come back to Andhra Pradesh and participate in the agitations in their respective constituencies.
The MPs declared that they would return to their constituencies to create awareness among people about the issue.
The MPs visited Rajghat and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi before leaving Delhi. According to former Union miniter Sujana Chowdary the BJP actions indicated murder of democracy.
“Our chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is chalking out plans for activities in the state till the next session of Parliament. We will go to our constituencies to create awareness among people in every district and mandal, and prepare them for a fight. We will again come back and achieve special category status," he said.
On the other hand, YSR Congress MPs decided to continue with their indefinite hunger strike at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan over the SCS issue.
Apparently, Naidu thought there would be nothing much for him to gain politically, if the MPs stayed back in Delhi. So, even before YSRC leaders react, he thought it is better the TDP grabs all the attention in AP by taking up a series of programmes.
