The much-publicised re-organisation of the Telugu Desam Party by its president N Chandrababu Naidu has turned out be just a farce.
Except some minor changes, almost all of them who had been enjoying party positions were continued in all the committees.
Naidu has retained the same old team, except bringing just two new faces into the 17-member politburo.
As two of the politburo members- Errabilli Dayakar Rao and Ramesh Rathod from Telangana- switched sides to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, they were replaced with two new faces- Revuri Prakash Reddy and Dhanasari Anasuya alias Seetakka.
Naidu said not many changes were made in the politburo as almost every member is a senior leader.
The TDP, which declared itself a "national party", retained the same 'Central Committee' with Naidu’s son Lokesh as one of the four general secretaries. The committee also has five vice-presidents and as many spokespersons.
Heads of party AP and Telangana units were also not changed, with K Kala Venkata Rao and L Ramana heading the respective units. In Telangana, the TDP decided to continue with a working president, A Revanth Reddy, but no such arrangement has been made in AP though the state unit president is also functioning as a minister in the Chandrababu government.
Naturally, this is going to cause a lot of disgruntlement in the party, as there are several leaders who were expecting to get into the state committee before the forthcoming general elections. Even those who defected from YSRC like Jyothula Nehru were expecting that they would get some key positions in the party, so that they can wield some influence in distribution of tickets.
