The farmers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are waiting for waiver of loans hoping that both the CMs will keep their pre-poll promise.
While the banks are putting pressure on the farmers saying that they must repay the loans to avoid action, both Chandra Babu Naidu and Chandra Sekhara Rao are simply avoiding the issue instead of giving a clearly chalked out road map.
With the banks making it quite clear that they are against the waiver of loans, both ‘Chandra’ Babu and ‘Chandra’ Sekhara Rao are still trying to pacify them. Meanwhile, the banks have decided to reschedule the loans, though nothing has been announced officially as yet.
The AP government has said that some clarity will be given within four to five days and the Telangana government has followed suit.
Incidentally, apart from the issue of bifurcation, promise of waiver of loans played an important role in the Telangana people voting TRS into power.
In both the states, the promise was a deciding factor in voting Babu and KCR to power. While Chandra Babu signed a file regarding loan waiving immediately after being sworn in, little has been done to actually resolve the issue.
Similarly, while KCR has spoken about the issue on various platforms, here too little action has been taken. Now, both of them have completed one month in office and the general public opinion is that both the CMs are no different in their style of functioning.
