Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday demanded that the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council pass a unanimous resolution opposing the ordinance issued by the Centre on the Polavaram issue.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly media point here, Ponguleti strongly opposed the ordinance which facilitated the merger of seven mandals of Khammam district into Andhra Pradesh.
He said that the ordinance was the ordinance was against the interests of Tribals of Khammam district.
He alleged that the Centre issued the ordinance under pressure from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
Ponguleti asked the Centre to withdraw the ordinance. Else, he threatened that the Telangana Congress would launch mass agitation on the issue.
