With the Telangana Rashtra Samithi refusing to merge with the Congress, the Telangana Congress leaders are now making desperate attempts to claim credit for the formation of new State and have been issuing statements to that effect day in and day out.
On Wednesday, former Minister Shabbir Ali claimed that the Congress party was the sole champion for carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.
Only the Congress party has taken a historic decision on giving statehood to Telangana, despite all odds and opposition from all political parties in Seemandhra.
The Congress only can rebuild a new Telangana state, to keep up to the expectations of the people of the region, he said.
Shabbir said only the Congress party can do justice to Telangana. A social and new Telangana sate will cater to the needs of all sections as the Congress will come to power in the region, he said.
He said that their party will make it big in the elections to come. ‘Our Party has taken much pain and criticism for giving statehood to Telangana’, he observed. Since people of the region are aware of the efforts of the Congress on Telangana statehood issue, they will surely vote for us, he said.
