Swarnandhra or Santoshandhra?

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu who was always harping on making the State into “Swarnandhra Pradesh” (Golden AP), has now come out with yet another word – “Santoshandhra Pradesh” (Happy AP).

The Chief Minister on Tuesday declared in the Assembly that he would transform Andhra Pradesh into “Happy Pradesh” by improving economic growth rate, literacy rate and development rate.

Naidu said the people of Andhra Pradesh have voted the TDP to power in the recent elections with a belief that the party alone has capacity to address the problems arising after bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that all systems have collapsed during the 10-year Congress regime, he alleged that the State witnessed rampant corruption, price spiral and unemployment problem during the period. Development activities were also paralyzed affecting the interests of the common people, he added.

Naidu explained that his previous nine-year rule improved economic growth, literacy rate and speeded up development activities in the State. He quoted figures and indicators, which would support his claim. The economic and literacy indications had come down during decade-long Congress rule in the State, he added.
