Surprise: Naidu Talks About Retirement!

It looks like Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has realised what is in store for him after 2019 elections.

It was evident from the way Naidu suddenly raised the topic of retirement from politics, while interacting with students benefitted from Chandranna Videshi Vidya Pathatkam (scheme to provide financial assistance to students going abroad) at Vijayawada on Wednesday.

He said there was a misapprehension among the people that children of politicians do not study properly.

“But I know the importance of education. So, I got my son good education at Stanford University in the US. All the four in my family are highly education. My daughter-in-law, too, is highly educated.

Tomorrow, when I retire from politics, my son and daughter-in-law are going to provide me some food,” Naidu said.

Analysts say Naidu’s talk of retirement from politics has not come inadvertently.

“He knows that he has to retire from politics if he loses the next elections and pave way for his son Lokesh to take the party’s mantle.

He knows he has no energies to wage the battle for another five years and come back to the chief minister’s seat. That is precisely why he desperately wants to continue as the chief minister for yet another term.

May be he is apprehensive that he might have to retire since the odds are not favouring him in the next elections,” an analyst observed.
