Continued 'power generation' at the Srisailam dam by Telangana would result in a severe drought like situation for the entire area of Rayalaseema and even Chennai.
Despite being ordered by the ‘Krishna Tribunal Board’ to stop ‘electricity generation’ at the dam, KCR has paid little heed to the orders and said that they would continue to generate electricity as the area of Telangana was facing a severe ‘power’ crisis.
Angered at this behavior of KCR, students of Rayalaseema gathered at the Srisailam dam and demanded that the entire water resources from the dam should be given to Rayalaseema area.
They demanded an immediate halt to ‘power generation’ at the ‘left wing’ of the dam and raised slogans against Telangana and KCR.
With the situation threatening to go out of control, the Police stepped in and took a few students into custody.
