Has the central government gone back on conferring special status to Andhra Pradesh?
During a review meeting held by state finance minister Jayanti Singh, Singh revealed that other states were against giving special status to Andhra Pradesh.
Bihar in particular has been demanding this for a long time now. However, during the time of bifurcation, even BJP insisted on the clause for special status.
Given this scenario, the centre is said to have promised the state government to give other benefits and discounts to make up for its past promise.
However, it is not clear if such verbal assurances would hold ground and attract industrialists to invest in the state.
