In keeping with Chandra Babu Naidu’s promise of developing the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh on the lines of Singapore, a special team would leave for Singapore soon to study the development model of this south-east Asian city-state.
Municipal Affairs Minister Narayana disclosed the same to media. He said that a stretch of 180 kilometers bordering the outer ring road would be developed which falls within the jurisdiction of the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM).
Narayana revealed that a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh crore would be required to develop a super capital city, whereas Rs 90,000 crore would be required to develop an ordinary capital city. He further added that his government was keen on developing a city that would be much superior to Singapore. They had also informed the Central Ground Water Board that nearly 30 TMCs of water would be required for the capital city, he said.
Finally, from Narayana’s comments, it can be concluded that the new capital city would be developed in the area falling under Krishna and Guntur districts.
