The notice to move no-confidence motion against the UPA government given by six Congress MPs from Seemandhra has left the high command red-faced.
Within a couple of hours of the MPs – G V Harsh Kumar, A Sai Pratap, Sabbam Hari, Vundavalli Arun Kumar, Lagadapati Rajagopal and A Venkat Ram Reddy – serving a notice on the Speaker of Lok Sabha for moving a no-confidence motion against the government in protest against the Andhra Pradesh bifurcation move, Congress president Sonia Gandhi deputed her personal secretary Ahmed Patel to do the damage control.
Immediately, Ahmed Patel spoke to the rebel MPs and asked them to withdraw the notice.
He tried to pacify them that the high command was willing to take their views into consideration on the bifurcation move and resolve issues, if any.
It is not yet known what the response of the MPs was.
