Somireddy says TDP committed to T-letter

TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Wednesday made a surprise announcement stating that the party is committed for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at AP Journalists Forum meeting, Somireddy said the party was committed for bifurcation of the State and “we stand by the letter submitted by our party President Chandrababu Naidu on Telangana”, he said.

He said such a situation had been created that it was difficult to develop a capital on par with Hyderabad in Seemandhra region.

Holding Digvijaya Singh, in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Congress affairs, responsible for the present situation, the TDP leader said the state might have not faced this situation, if it was divided in 1969 or 1972.

Criticising Singh, Somireddy said when the TDP president had asked for a package, the latter ridiculed the claim. But when TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao asked for it, Singh kept quiet.
