'Some People Trying To Scuttle Capital Plans'

AP Chief Minister Chandra Babu reviewed a meeting of the land acquisition committee and later spoke to the media persons.

He reiterated that he cannot give a figure for the amount of land required for land acquisition at this point in time.

However, he said that the idea was to develop a world-class capital city which will make the Andhra people proud.

Contrary to fears about capital, Babu said the development of new capital will help the farmers in the area tremendously.

He also alleged that some people have been trying to make sure that Andhra Pradesh did not have a capital city.

On the occasion, Babu promised to build new homes for people who would lose their houses during land development.

He insisted that there was no cause for farmers to worry as the whole idea was to make the development process conducive for farmers and farm labour.

Babu, in his characteristic style, questioned as to how any development would be possible in the state without a capital city.

Though the Krishna river has been flowing for centuries, developing a new capital city along its banks would bring back its past glory, assured Chandra Babu.
