What is a democracy? Where the will of the majority prevails! In Andhra Pradesh though, it is the reverse that is in vogue, especially with respect to the land pooling process.
With the deadline for most of the villages notified for the land pooling process expiring on Feb 2, only 28.2% have come forward to part with their land.
The majority have chosen to voice their official disagreement to the government. However, CM Chandrababu Naidu is unfazed by the poor response and declared that there is absolutely no question of a compromise in the new capital plan.
When a whopping 72% of the farmers are opposed to the acquisition of their lands, being a Chief Minister in a democratic set up, is it not Naidu’s responsibility to respect their decision instead of speaking autocratically that there will be no compromise?
