The entire opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh including YSRCP have backed the ongoing RTC strike.
“When the government has increased the salaries of its staff by giving them a 43% fitment hike, what wrong is there in the RTC demanding it too?” said YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Probably some sort of compromise will be arrived at by the government and RTC. It is inevitable. But at the same time, it is high time the government and RTC get their act together.
The RTC has not been showing a single rupee in profit for years now and the unions are often in the news for the wrong reasons.
It is being run on tax payers money and if the staff demand wage hikes then it is equally important that they give a categorical assurance on showing profits to the tax payer instead of being a drain on the finances of the public.
