The meeting of YSR Telangana party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila with Karnataka Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru on Monday has raised many eyebrows.
This is the second time that Sharmila had met Shivakumar in the last 10 days. It is not immediately known what kind of political equations both the leaders share.
All that it is known is that Shivakumar is a close family friend of Sharmila Reddy since the days of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
However, Shivakumar’s office said it was just a cordial meeting between the two leaders and did not divulge any details.
Sources said that Sharmila Reddy is keen on forging an alliance with the Congress party in Telangana state and she had spoken to Shivakumar in this regard.
The Congress is also looking forward to unite anti-Bharat Rashtra Samithi votes ahead of the assembly elections in Telangana scheduled later this year.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Mahesh Kumar Goud welcomed the meeting of Sharmila with Shivakumar.
“It is a good development. Any secular-minded leader can have a meeting with top Congress leaders,” he said.
