It appears YSR Telangana Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila has been selectively leaking news to Andhra Jyothy and ABN-Andhra Jyothy channel promoted by Vemuri Radhakrishna, about her political plans.
Andhra Jyothy, which is often trolled by the YSR Congress party as “yellow media” for its blatant pro-Telugu Desam Party, has been regularly carrying news about Sharmila well in advance, much before any other newspaper or media house picked them up.
It was Andhra Jyothy which first broke the news about Sharmila’s revolt against her brother and her plan to float the new political party in Telangana. It was also the first to disclose her plans to take out the padayatra.
Similarly, it was ABN-Andhra Jyothy which did her first interview with Sharmila and Radhakrishna did a candid face-to-face with her in his “Open Heart with RK” programme, wherein she openly talked about the differences in her family.
It was also Andhra Jyothy which predicted about Sharmila joining hands with the Congress and the high command requesting her to go to Andhra Pradesh to head the party there. Though she was reluctant initially, she is learnt to have finally decided to wind up her Telangana party and shift the base to Andhra.
All these developments show that Sharmila might be regularly leaking her plans to Andhra Jyothy and Radhakrishna. On Monday, too, Andhra Jyothy carried a report saying Jagan is trying to prevent Sharmila from entering Andhra politics.
According to the report, Jagan is worried about Sharmila’s entry into Andhra Pradesh, to take charge of Andhra Congress, fearing that it would cause a big dent in the YSRCP and many of the party leaders might shift their loyalties to Sharmila.
Already, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy announced that she would sail with Sharmila in his political journey and many more are expected to join him. The old-time Congress leaders and cadre, who moved to YSRCP after the Congress debacle in 2014, might return to the Congress, if Sharmila takes reins.
According to Andhra Jyothy report, Jagan has sent his uncle and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman Y V Subba Reddy to Sharmila as an emissary to request her not to venture into Andhra politics, as it would damage the reputation of YSR family.
Subba Reddy told her that if she campaigned against her own brother, it will create a negative impact on YSR family and ultimately cause a big loss both to brother and sister. But Sharmila flatly refused to listen to Subba Reddy.
She lashed out her uncle for keeping silent when she was facing humiliation and was compelled to hit the road in Telangana. “Not even once, any of the YSRCP leaders made any attempt to resolve the dispute within the family all these days. Now with Jagan in crisis, you have come to me to create hurdles in my political career,” she reportedly said.
The one-on-one meeting between Sharmila and Subba Reddy was not reported by any other media, except Andhra Jyothy. It clearly shows she has leaked this information to Radhakrishna!
