In a surprise development, former minister P Shankar Rao on Wednesday served a notice of No Confidence Motion against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his council of Ministers.
The maverick Congress legislator from Secunderabad cantonment has trained his guns at the Chief Minister for the latter’s stand on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
He alleged that the Chief Minister has lost the confidence of the people by his false statements on the issue of the division of the state.
“He has openly defied the party high command’s decision to carve out Telangana state. He is also spreading lies and raising false fears over division,” Rao said.
It may be recalled that Rao was sacked from the cabinet for making allegations against the Chief Minister and other cabinet colleagues.
Under Rule 75 (1) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, I hereby give notice of No Confidence on the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers," Shankar said in his notice given to Assembly Secretary.
"I express No Confidence in the Council of Ministers headed by N Kiran Kumar Reddy," he said.
The legislator demanded that the Assembly be convened at the earliest to take up the no-trust motion.
