Former minister and Congress MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment Dr P Shankar Rao is known for his sensational comments and maverick acts inside and outside Assembly.
On Monday, Shankar Rao sprang a surprise on the media persons when he called on Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu who has been undergoing treatment at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology for jaundice and diabetes.
He expressed solidary with Naidu, though the latter has taken a complete U turn on the Telangana statehood issue while Shankar Rao is a pro-Telangana leader.
Talking to reporters later, Shankar Rao said he had enquired about the health of Naidu, who had fallen sick after undertaking hunger strike in Delhi.
Wishing Naidu a speedy recovery, he clarified that his visit had nothing to do politics.
He claimed that he had friendship with Naidu since he was an active member of NSUI and Youth Congress.
