![Shame on Naidu: Modi gives pittance to AP!](https://www.greatandhra.com/newphotos9/ga_politics1611037702.jpeg)
Even as Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been repeatedly requesting the Narendra Modi government to announce some special package to the State, if it is not possible grant special status, the Centre is only treating the State with contempt.
While there were reports that Naidu had asked for 1.20 lakh crore package for the all-round development of the State, the Centre on Friday released a pittance amount of just Rs 1,000 crore towards development of backward districts of Andhra Pradesh and assistance for creation of New Capital of Andhra Pradesh for the current Financial Year 2015-16.
According to a press release from New Delhi, the Central Government will provide special assistance of Rs. 350 crore, (at Rs 50 crore per district) for the development of seven backward districts covering Rayalaseema and North Coastal region, Rs 350 crore for new capital of the State and Rs 300 crore for Polavaram Irrigation Project.
A tax incentive has also been provided in Finance Act, 2015. It claimed that it had released Rs 4,403 crore to AP during 2014-15 towards various developmental programmes.
Now, the announcement came as a rude shock to Naidu, who has been making tall claims about his clout with the Modi government. He should definitely needs to give an explanation to the people.
