Despite their aggressive posturing, the Seemandhra Congress MPs appear to have developed cold feet at the last minute.
As many as seven Seemandhra Congress MPs were supposed to submit their resignations from Parliament on Tuesday and an appointment with the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar was also fixed for the purpose.
However. there appears to have started a rethink on the desirability of such a move at this juncture.
Some MPs are believed to have developed second thoughts on quitting their posts, saying it would not serve any purpose.
The rethink appears to have set in after they met the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who was in Delhi on Monday to attend the meeting of National Integration Council (NIC).
The Chief Minister had reportedly asked them not to precipitate the matters now and wait till the Telangana bill comes up before the Parliament.
The MPs who have vowed to quit their posts are Lagadapati Rajagopal, Sai Pratap, YSP Reddy, Anata Vemkatramireddy, Undavalli Arun Kumar, GV Harsha Kumar and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.
Meanwhile, the MPs could not meet the Speaker as she had to leave for Patna urgently. Though the MPs had an appointment with the Speaker at 11.30 am, they were told that the Speaker had to go to Patna following a change in her schedule. They have been asked to meet her on Sept 30.
Thus, the resignation drama will continue for a few more days.
