Seemandhra MPs backtrack on quitting

Seven Seemandhra Congress MPs who were firm on getting their resignations accepted had backtracked on Tuesday, on the pretext that Speaker Meira Kumar had cancelled her appointment.

However, the MPs had withdrawn their plan to quit after being convinced by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC Chief Botcha Sathyanarayana stating that they could quit after voting against the Telangana Bill in Parliament.

The Chief Minister asked them not to tender their resignations before official announcement on the state division.

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal, however, told the media that the Seemandhra MPs would not go back on the decision on their resignations. He said they had failed to get their resignations accepted as the Lok Sabha Speaker was in Patna. He said that he still believed that the state would remain united.

On the other hand, Amalapuram MP BV Harsha Kumar said that the Chief Minister has told to him that the resignations should be tendered united if the need arises. He also said that the central Government will not fall down with their resignations.
