The Congress ministers from Seemandhra region, who have been strongly opposing the high command on the State bifurcation issue, will back the official Congress candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections.
At least two ministers – T G Venkatesh and Kasu Krishna Reddy on Tuesday made it clear that they would support the official candidates of Congress party in the Rajya Sabha elections.
They dismissed the reports that they might support the rebel candidates of Congress party.
“There is no question of supporting the rebel candidates and media is spreading baseless rumours,” Venkatesh said and warned that he would lodge a criminal complaint against those misusing his name.
Krishna Reddy too expressed similar views and said that his family was associated with the Congress party for the last three generations.
He said he would remain loyal to the Congress in all circumstances.
Interestingly, Venkatesh said that he would not hesitate to quit the Congress party if it goes ahead with the division of Andhra Pradesh by doing injustice to the people of Seemandhra region.
