The voices of Seemandhra leaders have now become meek. They are no more talking about united Andhra Pradesh cause or en mass resignations but talking about "fair deal" for the region.
However, in order to placate the angry Samaikyandhra activists back home, the Seemandhra Union ministers and MPs are making some noises.
Some leaders like Chiranjeevi are saying that if they feel that the Centre is going ahead without addressing concerns of Seemandhra people, they would "keep other options open."
Four Seemandhra Union ministers- Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Chiranjeevi, Purandheshwari and JD Seelam - met Union Finance minister P. Chidambaram and requested him to think about the problem of Hyderabad and sharing of water resources if the state has to be divided.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chiranjeevi trashed reports that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy may have to go, saying that the coordination committee meeting slated for Friday, of which he is a member, will discuss the damage caused by recent cyclone and floods in the state and the relief package that may have to be announced.
Chiranjeevi also added that CM Kiran and himself have been raising the concerns raised by people all these days on the bifurcation issue.
State leaders are looking anxiously at the Centre “how they can convince people; how they will clarify doubts and how will they provide security to all concerned?”.
When Chiranjeevi was asked about status of Hyderabad and packages, he replied:”that stage has not yet come. If the Centre goes ahead without addressing the concerns, we will think of what to do later.”
Chiranjeevi said that he had resigned his position as Union minister and the same has not been accepted so far. Telugu people will remain united though the state is divided topographically as Telangana and Seemandhra.
With the new mission of bargaining sops for Seemandhra, Six Union ministers including Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, MM Pallam Raju, Purandheshwari, Panabaka Lakshmi, Killi Kruparani and J.D.Seelam met Union Petroleum minister Veerappa Moily, who is a member of the GoM on bifurcation.
According to sources, the union ministers, during their meeting which lasted for one and half an hour, raised only on the issues emerge in the aftermath of State division, but reportedly tight lipped on united AP.
