If the reports doing rounds in the Bharatiya Janata Party circles, state party president Bandi Sanjay is most likely to be inducted into the Narendra Modi cabinet next week. If that happens, he will have to step down as the Telangana BJP chief.
According to the reports, the party high command has acknowledged the fact that all is not well within the state BJP and Sanjay has been facing a lot of resistance from seniors. Because of his aggressive attitude, many leaders are looking up to joining the other parties.
The latest development in the rumblings within the Telangana BJP is the revolt by Dubbak MLA M Raghunandan Rao against Bandi Sanjay. He openly told reporters on Thursday that he was being ignored by the BJP leadership both at the state and the Centre.
Raghunandan complained to the national BJP chief J P Nadda during the latter’s visit to Telangana that he was not being considered for BJP floor leader post, nor for the BJP national spokesperson post.
“Though I have been exposing the BRS and the government, the party has not been giving me my due,” he said.
He wondered why the national BJP ignored him, while calling disgruntled leaders like Eatala Rajender and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy to Delhi for talks.
“It clearly shows I have no recognition in the party,” he said.
Apparently, the BJP high command is of the view that Sanjay has failed to take the seniors along with him and is going unilaterally.
“But since he has brought a lot of life into the party, the high command decided to reward him with a cabinet berth, while appointing another senior as the state BJP chief,” sources said.
In all probability, Union minister of tourism G Kishan Reddy may be the replacement for Sanjay, as the former has more acceptability and command over the party, sources added.
