Rains appear to have played spoil sport with the YSR Congress Party.
The prestigious "Samaikya Sankaraavam" meeting, scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on Saturday, is all set to be postponed in view of the incessant rains lashing across several parts of the state.
The organizers are worried about the logistics problems of transporting the people from Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions to the meeting.
The train services have been severely disrupted while roads are damaged due to heavy rains. After taking a stock of the situation, the party leadership is expected to make an announcement by Friday evening, deferring the meeting.
Already, the people in coastal districts are facing lot of hardship due to torrential rains throwing the communication and transport services out of gear and severely damaging the standing crops.
Under these circumstances, it would be difficult for the people to travel to the state capital for a political meeting.
Moreover, there is also a ditinct lack of public enthusiasm for the meeting. This is the first political show of strength being organized by the YSRCP after the release of its president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy from jail on bail.
The people in Seemandhra have been subjected to several hardship for the last two and half months due to continuous agitations and now the Nature's fury in the form of heavy rains.
The people in general are wary of participating in the agitations as their source of livelihood has been severely hit due to frequent shutdowns and other hardships.
Moreover, the pro-Telangana student groups have threatened to disrupt the public meeting. This has made people in Seemandhra wary of travelling to the state capital.
