Supporters of united Andhra Pradesh on Sunday targeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi by referring her as a foreigner.
Speakers at the Samaikhya Rashtra Praja Garjana organised by the APNGOs at Kurnool, openly criticised the Congress top leadership. Some artists performed a song raising the issue of Sonia's foreign origin.
Asking Sonia to return to Italy, the singers said she could not understand the sentiments of love for motherland and language as she herself was not living at her place of birth.
The speeches and songs aimed at Sonia Gandhi are likely to cause more embarrassment for the Congress leaders from Seemandhra region before the High Command as they had been extending full support to the Samaikhyandhra protest.
It may be mentioned that the Samaikhyandhra activists damaged the statues of former Prime Ministers late Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi after the CWC announced its decision on Telangana formation.
