Sai Reddy to opt out as Uttarandhra YSRCP in-charge?

Sai Reddy to opt out as Uttarandhra YSRCP in-charge?

It has not even been three months since YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy was re-appointed as regional coordinator of the party for north-Andhra districts after a gap of two years.

But the latest talk is that he will be stripped of the post once again. Alternatively, Sai Reddy himself is planning to opt out of the responsibility of the party in north Andhra districts.

According to sources in the party, Sai Reddy has not been evincing much interest in the party activities in the erstwhile combined districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam since his appointment as in-charge of the party in October.

The main reason for this is the reluctance of the party leaders in these districts to accept him as the party in-charge. In fact, when he came to Visakhapatnam after his re-appointment in October, there was hardly any response from the party leaders.

Except a few leaders like former minister Gudivada Amarnath welcomed his appointment, the other party leaders did not even show any interest to meet him.

Some other leaders like Avanti Srinivas quit the party and a few others like M V V Satyanarayana, who made big money during the YSRCP regime when Sai Reddy was in-charge of Vizag, preferred to avoid him now.

According to sources, when Sai Reddy was in the same post till 2022, there were several allegations against him of land grabbing and other land settlements. The party was split into groups during his period.

Subsequently, he was replaced by another Rajya Sabha leader Y V Subba Reddy, who further ruined the party.

As a result, the YSRCP was completely routed in Visakhapatnam and it could not win even a single seat, except two assembly seats in the tribal areas of erstwhile combined Vizag district.

After his reappointment as the party’s regional coordinator, there has not been much activity in the party in the north Andhra districts.

Sources said if Sai Reddy opts out of the post or the party decides to strip him of the post, senior party leader and leader of opposition in the legislative council Botsa Satyanarayana is likely to be appointed in his place.

YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been overhauling the party organization at all levels, has reportedly decided to entrust key responsibilities to Botsa to rebuild the party in the erstwhile combined north-Andhra districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam.
