YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy is said to be very serious in launching a television channel and a newspaper and has started efforts in that direction.
According to sources, Sai Reddy is said to be contacting the managements of a few existing channels which are not able to manage due to financial constraints and lack of manpower, since it is very difficult in the present circumstances to launch a completely new satellite television channel.
Sources said he has already zeroed in on a couple of Hyderabad-based prominent channels which are facing financial crisis and is likely to acquire one of them. If the deal works out, he may take over the channel within a month or two.
It is learnt Sai Reddy is planning to rope in senior journalist G V D Krishna Mohan, former communications advisor for Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, to head the channel. It is not immediately known whether GVD has agreed for the same or not.
A few journalists who have quit Sakshi channel in the recent past also might join Sai Reddy’s channel, provided there is a better salary structure.
“But having known Sai Reddy’s inconsistent stand on the media house, they are hesitating,” sources said.
There is no news about the proposed newspaper to be launched by Sai Reddy.
“But one thing is sure. He has plans to enter the media industry. He might have hesitated when Jagan was in power, but this time, he is very keen on launching the media house,” a journalist close to the YSRCP said.
