Rural Voice: First Sankranthi in Chandrababu's Rule

The rural population in Andhra Pradesh is expressing dissatisfaction with the current alliance government for a reason- they face their first Sankranthi under Chandrababu's rule now.

In the past five years, during YSRCP rule, the rural people benefitted from various welfare schemes, which provided them with money to spend on new clothes and celebrate the festival. However, this time, they are without such financial support, leaving them unhappy.

Additionally, many have questioned why the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Andhra Pradesh has been reduced since the alliance government came to power, especially compared to the higher GST rates under Jagan's rule.

Recent reports indicate that, during Jagan's regime, shopping activity in the state was higher, contributing to a healthier GST revenue.

However, the current decline in GST reflects a significant decrease in consumer spending among rural residents, pointing to a reduction in their purchasing power and overall happiness quotient.

This shift signals an economic slowdown in the rural economy on a whole, and the diminishing festive spirit this Sankranthi in particular.
