Ruckus in House, no debate possible

Though the Assembly Business Advisory Committee had decided to allow debate on Telangana bill, the situation in the House was not conducive for any discussion on Wednesday.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, the Seemandhra legislators belonging to Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress stormed the well of the House and raised slogans against bifurcation of the state.

The Speaker Nadendla Manohar made repeated appeals to the members to resume their seats to enable smooth conduct of the debate on the A P Reorganisation Bill, 2013. The question hour has been suspended to facilitate discussion on the bill.

However, the agitating members continued to surround the podium and stalled the proceedings. This prompted the Speaker to adjourn the Hour for an hour.

There was no let-up in the furore when the House re-assembled. The Seemandhra members continued to stall the proceedings and kept raising slogans. As they refused to leave the podium, the Speaker once again adjourned the House for another hour.

Going by the mood among the Seemandhra MLAs, there appears no scope for any meaningful debate in the House on the bill.
