The RSS has responded to Modi’s concerns on the ‘Ghar Whapsi’ programme and changed its strategy.
The mass conversions programme led by Rajeshwar Singh of the RSS had attracted a lot of hype and publicity.
The ‘Sangh Parivar’ was actually in favor of large -scale publicity for it felt that publicity would encourage more number of people to go in for re-conversions. However the ‘Opposition’ seized on the issue and successfully made a hue and cry of it resulting in the government having a tough time in Parliament.
Compounding its problems were the statements made by Sadhvi Jyothi and Sakshi Maharaj.
The end result was that the focus completely shifted from Modi’s governance to the ‘Hindutva agenda’.
Against this backdrop, Modi paid a visit to RSS head Mohan Bhagwat and spoke of the problems the government was facing because of all this.
Mohan Bhagwat has now reworked the strategy and immediately sent ‘Rajeshwar Singh’ on medical leave.
He has also issued instructions to the ‘Sangh Parivar’ that while the conversions programs will go on, there ought to be no hype or media publicity associated with the same.
