Rs 35 Cr Spent On One-Day Publicity Of KCR?

The Telangana government is learnt to have spent a whopping Rs 35 crore on publicity to chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday, on the occasion of Telangana formation day celebrations.

Huge three full-page advertisements were given to almost all local and national newspapers, besides advertisement films to electronic media.

It is learnt prime time slots were bought by the TRS government on major television channels for carrying interviews with KCR’s son and IT minister K T Rama Rao.

The advertisements were released to the media through a Mumbai-based advertising agency.

Though it is common for any government to periodically give advertisements to the newspapers on important occasions, it is said to be the first time that such a huge amount was spent on a single day for media advertisements.

Interestingly, the amount spent on media publicity is apart from the expenditure incurred on conducting formation day celebrations in all the districts in the form of beautifying streets, illuminating official buildings and putting up huge hoardings.

One may have to see more such publicity blitzkriegs in the coming days, as the election year approaches!
