Rs 10k Crore Black Money Disclosure Bogus?

Rs 10k Crore Black Money Disclosure Bogus?

Several stories were doing rounds till the other day that a single individual from Hyderabad disclosed his black money worth Rs 10,000 crore from out of the total disclosure of Rs 13,000 crore from the city under the Central government’s Income Disclosure Scheme.

The Telugu Desam Party leaders, including Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, directly or indirectly chose these reports to target their political rival YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, stating that he was the one who had disclosed the black money under the scheme in order to regularise his ill-gotten money.

Of course, Jagan shot back saying it must be a benami of Naidu himself, since nobody else had the chance to know the details of such individuals.

There were also reports that a former chief minister had disclosed black money worth Rs 3000 crore, while a media house owner had also disclosed Rs 1000 crore black money.

But, according to sources from New Delhi, all these reports are just bogus. There were several individuals and companies which disclosed their black money, but they are all in a few crores of rupees and there is not a single case of disclosure of Rs 100 crore, leave alone Rs 10,000 crore.

So, it is pretty evident that the scheme was used to malign the image of political leaders by their rivals to score a point.
