With each passing day, the words and actions of the Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu is raising suspicion among the party leaders from Telangana region.
In the name of "Sama Nyayam" (Equal Justice), Naidu appears to be clearly moving away from the party's pro-Telangana stand and the tone and tenor of his criticism against the Congress government in rushing through the bifurcation process is creating a perception that he is actually trying to throw spanner at the division of the state.
It is a question of political survival for the Telangana TDP leaders. They are really worried over the U-turn of their boss on the statehood issue. If the party is seen to change the stand, then the people of Telangana will reject it outright, they feel.
As a result, some of the Telangana legislators are preparing the ground to leave the party in search of greener pastures.
The preferred destination for them is the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which has been in the forefront of the statehood movement since its inception in 2001.
The MLAs particularly from North Telangana are growing restive in the face of the confusing statements being made by Naidu, Already, Jukkal MLA Hanumanmth Shinde announced that he has decided to quit and join the TRS.
Even the name of the party's prominent Telangana leader from Warangal Eraballi Dayakar Rao is doing rounds. It is said that he might quit the party after waiting for the debate in the State Assembly to get over.
