Resolution Was Kiran's Brahmastram

All these days, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was saying that he had a “Brahmastram” to stall the Telangana statehood and everybody was wondering what this master weapon could be.

On Sunday, the Chief Minister himself declared that the resolution moved by him and adopted by the State Assembly rejecting the Telangana bill was his ‘Brahmastram’ and it would exert pressure on the Centre to defer its decision.

Claiming that Samaikyandhra leaders had defeated Telangana draft bill in the Assembly through an unchallenged resolution of “voice vote” rejecting it, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that President Pranab Mukherjee would consider their appeal to keep the State intact.

He said though the President had powers to send the bill to Parliament, he was supposed to do it only after going through legal, constitutional objects in this regard.

“Voice vote is not a useless phenomenon which helps any State to divide. Earlier, no State was divided without a resolution of the Assembly, he maintained. He also accused the Centre of failing to send the original bill to Assembly. If the Centre wants to divide the State, the Centre must address the issues raised with regard to Seemandhra region,” he said.

He said they would take along TDP, YSRCP and other integrationists to meet the President to keep the State united.
