Ever since he was appointed as Telangana TDP working president, Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy has been going with a lot of speed, outsmarting all the other party leaders in Telangana, in attacking the TRS government thereby garnering media attention.
And it looks like he is making all out efforts to emerge as No. 1 leader in the party in the new State, much to the chagrin of other senior leaders.
Right from the day one, Revanth has been extensively addressing media conferences with one expose or demand or the other to hit the headlines.
The other day, he had attacked the TRS government exposing the irregularities in supply of “fine rice” to social welfare hostels. It fetched him a lot of mileage.
And on Friday, Revanth strongly opposed the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) entered between Chattisgarh State Power Distribution Company and Telangana State without conducting the mandatory public hearing in the interest of the electricity consumers.
In a letter to the chairman of Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC), Revanth Reddy found fault in calling for comments, objections and suggestions online on the PPAs between the two state governments.
“It is nothing but mockery to place the issue in public domain just by asking suggestions and comments online while you are mandated to conduct a public hearing while finalizing PPAs”, he said.
Revanth further said that the PPAs were pushed as Government –to-Government contract while the fact remains that the real power supplier is a private power company whose cost of establishment had reportedly increased by more than Rs.2,000 crore resulting in avoidable price escalation to the consumers in Telangana.
Second, the grid is expected to be completed not earlier than in 2018 and even then the quota allotted to Telangana will not be 1000 MW, he said.
