Have the three independents, who filed their nominations in the Rajya Sabha elections, including two rebel Congress candidates, used forged signatures of MLAs supporting their candidatures?
Well, this was the allegation made by Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana. In a written complaint lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer and Legislature Secretary, the PCC chief alleged that the independents – Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Chaitanya Raju and Bhaskar – had submitted nominations using forged signatures of the MLAs in support of their candidatures.
Botsa demanded that the returning officer should speak to the MLAs individually and verify their signatures with those affixed on the nomination papers of the rebel candidates.
He also warned that if the signatures were genuine, disciplinary action would be taken against such MLAs.
