The Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA) officials have cautioned people against purchasing house sites in Vijayawada and Guntur areas.
The worried officials set off alarm bells ringing on Friday stating that realtors were selling plots in unauthorised layouts to gullible on a large scale, particularly after chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's announce ment to locate the capital around Vijayawada city .
Speaking to reporters here, VGTM UDA vice-chairman, K Usha Kumari told people to verify layout permissions from the UDA before purchasing any plots. With a spurt in illegal and unauthorized layouts in VGTM limits, she cautioned the people before going ahead with purchase of house sites.
“We have authorized only 476 layouts in VGTM limits in the last six years and most other layouts have no permissions,“ she clarified.
She said that constructions in any unauthorized layouts would be bulldozed. One of the reasons resulting in the lag between realtors selling plots in illegal layouts and the UDA receiving information about the same was staff shortage in UDA. We are forced to depend on field officials in village panchayats to get information about illegal layouts, she said.
It was the responsibility of the village secretaries to notice and alert the UDA about unauthorized layouts.
She said that the district collector was requested to issue necessary instructions to village secretaries through panchayat raj department and hold them responsible in case unauthorized layouts were found in their areas.
She added that authorized layouts have been notified in tehsildar offices.
