Rayala Telangana Not Practical: Chiru

Union Minister K Chiranjeevi on Saturday called on Congress president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and told her that the Rayala Telangana proposal was not practical.

Chiranjeevi told Sonia that the proposal of Rayala Telangana did not excite people of any of the two regions of Rayalaseema or Telangana.

“The formation of Rayala Telangana by splitting Rayalaseema region and merging it with Telangana is not practical,” he said.

He reiterated his demand for granting Union Territory status to Hyderabad in case of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

He told media later that he had briefed the Congress president about the advantages of making Hyderabad a Union Territory.

He said that the change in the status of Hyderabad would address the concerns of Seemandhra people living in the city.

He also requested that Bhadrachalam division should be merged with the residual State of Andhra Pradesh.

He said as per records, Bhadrachalam is part of Seemandhra region and the same status should be continued after bifurcation of State.
