The defeat of the YSR Congress Party led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in the recent assembly elections in the state appears to have had a severe impact on Sakshi media house, which is said to be facing a serious crisis.
According to sources, Jagan’s wife, Bharati Reddy, who has been managing the affairs of Sakshi media, is not happy with the way the Sakshi team performed during the elections, feeling that it could not counter the negative campaign unleashed by the Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party.
Secondly, Bharati has realized that the media house is going to face a tough time in the coming days, as the TDP government would definitely tighten the noose around it by not releasing government advertisements and targeting its circulation.
“The Naidu government is going to take revenge on Sakshi for all that the YSRCP government did for the pro-TDP media houses like Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy, TV5, and ABN-Andhra Jyothy. So, Sakshi has to brace for the challenge in the coming days,” sources said.
It is learned that Bharati has decided to overhaul the entire organizational structure of Sakshi. As part of the plan, she brought in her close aide, Rani Reddy, to the top position in the media house a couple of days ago.
Sources said Rani Reddy has been made the overall in-charge of Sakshi, overseeing everything from marketing to advertising to administration. Except for playing the role of an editor, she is going to be an all-in-all for Sakshi, sources said.
“Even in editorial matters, she may have the power to decide broader policy,” they said.
However, Rani Reddy’s entry into the top position has created a sense of panic among the employees. She is known to be a kind of dictator with rude behavior.
“She creates a virtual hell for the employees. Since she is close to the Jagan family, nobody will be able to say anything, despite the fact that she has little knowledge about the media business,” sources said.
It is learned that many of its senior employees are contemplating quitting the organization and looking for better opportunities outside.
“In any case, there are going to be no salary hikes in the near future because of the precarious situation of the YSRCP,” sources said.
