At last, director of Sakshi media house Rani Reddy, who has been virtually dictating the policies of the Telugu daily as well as the television channel, has been shown the exit door, sources from the media house said.
According to these sources, Rani Reddy has been asked to quit and she has been given two months’ time to pack her bag and baggage to leave the organisation. Even this grace period is said to be due to some formalities to be fulfilled at the registrar of companies.
Considered to be eyes and ears of Sakshi managing director Y S Bharati Reddy right from the beginning, Rani Reddy was originally looking after the channel administration, including human resources development.
But after the YSR Congress party lost power in last year’s assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy made an attempt to revamp the system in Sakshi as well. As part of that Rani Reddy was made all powerful.
Since then, she has been calling shots in every department – right from advertising to administration to even editorial matters. Except for playing the role of an editor, she was virtually an all-in-all for Sakshi.
"Even in editorial matters, she has been deciding the broader editorial policy," sources said.
Because of her dictatorial attitude and loud-mouth character, Rani Reddy has become a terror in the organisation. Her entry into the top position last year has created a sense of panic among the employees.
"She creates a virtual hell for the employees. Since she is close to the Jagan family, nobody will be able to say anything, despite the fact that she has little knowledge about the media business," sources said.
Sources said Bharati Reddy realised that Rani Reddy has completely spoilt the atmosphere in the Sakshi media house, because of which several senior employees threatened to quit. In the recent past, Bharati Reddy was flooded with complaints against Rani Reddy.
“Perhaps that could be the reason for Bharati Reddy deciding to sack Rani Reddy and bring in efficient person into the hot seat,” sources said.
