Telugu media moghul and Eenadu group chairman Ch Ramoji Rao, who carved a niche for himself in the media industry by taking his group publications to a new high in the last four and a half decades.
Apart from Eenadu, his group has been running four different monthly magazines – Vipula, Chatura, Telugu Velugu and Bala Bharatham, which have won appreciation from all sections of readers.
Vipula was a monthly magazine aimed at providing stories of different languages from across the world in Telugu language, so as to help the readers know about the best literature all around the world.
Similarly, Chatura was a magazine that used to provide a novel with excellent literary values.
While these two magazines were launched in late ‘80s, Ramoji Rao started two more magazines a decade ago – Telugu Velugu to prove literary content to the young readers and Bala Bharatam to cater to the needs of children.
Unfortunately, all these four magazines will soon be wound up. Already, the print editions of these magazines were closed during the Coronavirus pandemic and converted into digital magazines. Now, even this digital version also will not be seen from next month.
A statement from Ramoji Foundation said on Wednesday that it has become extremely difficult to run the magazine even digitally due to severe financial constraints.
Moreover, the reading habits of the people have also undergone a lot of change due to expansion of internet, it said.
“All these days, we have been running the magazines purely on a service mode. Now, we are constrained to take the decision to close these magazines from next month due to our inability to manage the publications. We, however, continue to strive to uphold the values of Telugu literature,” the statement said.
