The manner in which Bharatiya Janata Party did not make any attempt to stall the attempts of the Telugu Desam Party to move a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government has come as a big surprise to the opponents of the TDP.
In the last budget session of Parliament, the YSR Congress party MPs had given 13 notices to move no-confidence motion against the NDA government, but all of them were disallowed.
Similar notices given by the TDP were also thrown in the dustbin on the pretext of lack of order in the House.
But on the very first of the monsoon session of Lok Sabha, the Speaker allowed it and fixed Friday for discussion. This has given rise to the suspicion that everything was done in a pre-planned manner.
Naturally, the YSR Congress party suspected that something is fishy in this whole affair. According to YSRC official spokesman Ambati Rambabu, a media person close to the TDP was the brain behind the entire drama over the no-trust motion against the Modi government.
“This media person had held discussions with the BJP leadership recently, which led to the NCM drama. It is anybody’s guess,” he said.
Now, who could this media person be to mediate between the TDP and the BJP?
Though Andhra Jyothy managing director V Radhakrishna is very close to the TDP, he does not have the stature and also contacts to negotiate with the BJP leadership. So, the only other person could be Ch Ramoji Rao, chairman of Eenadu group.
Last week, BJP national president Amit Shah went to Ramoji Film City to meet the media baron to seek his support to the BJP.
During the discussion, Ramoji Rao is believed to have given the advice to Amit Shah to face the no-confidence motion, which would satisfy both the TDP as well as Modi.
While the TDP can explain the problems of AP, Modi will get a chance to explain what he had done for the state.
“Now that the YSRC is not in the House now, it will be a win-win situation for both the TDP and the BJP,” Ramoji reportedly advised Shah. And that is why, Modi readily agreed for a debate on no-trust motion.
“This clearly shows that there is clandestine understanding between the TDP and BJP even as they have officially snapped their ties,” YSRC former MP Y V Subba Reddy said, adding both the parties should tell the people why they failed to implement the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act in the last four years.
