Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram Rajan is coming to Hyderabad on the 15th of this month as ‘Chief Guest’ for a banking convention.
Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, KCR and Naidu have immediately taken his appointment for a one-on-one meeting.
Obviously the meetings would be in the context of the fanciful and irresponsible ‘loan waiver schemes’ announced by the respective politicians.
By hook or by crook, both of them intend to make complete use of the appointment to convince an angry Rajan to support their scheme and request Rajan to order the banks to give fresh loans to the farmers and what better opportunity than this where they are meeting him in their own backyard.
In Telangana, the loan waiver is expected to cost around Rs 17000 crore of which 20% has already been disbursed by the government.
As for Naidu, he hasn’t waived off even 25 paisa to each farmer but freshly announced a loan waiver for weavers also. Rajan should not be blamed if he strangles Naidu to death!
