Though CPI (M) national secretary Prakash Karat has given a clean chit to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and has expressed eagerness to take him into the proposed Third Front, the party’s State unit leaders are said to be against an electoral alliance with the YSR Congress Party.
During the CPI (M) State committee executive meeting, some senior leaders of the party like B V Raghavulu strongly felt that they might face problems in future if the party entered into an electoral alliance with YSRCP as its founder-president was facing corruption charges and went to jail. The party high priests prefer electoral tie-up only with Left parties.
The senior leaders also felt that as the party has a strong cadre in the Telangana region, a poll tie-up with Jagan’s party would be of no use at all.
However, the CPM leaders did not release an official statement in this regard.
As there is some time to go to general elections, the party seniors were discussing whether to give a public statement about a tie-up with Jagan’s party or not.
