The UPA government’s proposal to form Rayala Telangana State seems to be nothing but a plan to make people of both Telangana and Seemandhra people big fools.
According to political observers, the Rayala Telangana proposal had not come from the people, but is a deliberate ploy of the Congress high command to hoodwink public representatives of Telangana and Rayalaseema.
The proposal is only to demoralize the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, who is not inclined to merge his party into Congress and weaken the plans of the BJP, which was also vehemently opposing the Rayala Telangana proposal.
On the other hand, it is aimed at confusing the people of Seemandhra, particularly of the Rayalaseema region.
There is no debate or a discussion with all party leaders on the proposal to convince them how it would benefit the region.
There is also a belief that the proposal was only aimed at protecting the Reddy community within the Congress party in both the regions.
Reddy lobby in Telangana would join hands with the Reddy lobby of Ananthapur and Kurnool districts as the former suffers from lack of leadership.
The Telangana Reddy leaders are individually strong but are weak unitedly. They never see eye to eye in the Telangana region.
Except Velama leaders, no other caste leaders in the region are not in a position to remain united. Telangana Reddy lobby is looking towards Rayalaseema Reddys to lead them and hence looking at Rayalaseema Reddys.
Another section feels the Centre was not interested to divide the State and hence it brought Rayala Telangana proposal to the fore.
The UPA government thinks that the BJP would strongly oppose the Rayala Telangana Bill along with TRS party.
Already political parties like Trinamul Congress, Janata Dal (U), Biju Janata Dal and Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party are openly stating that they would oppose whatever the Bill introduced dividing Andhra Pradesh.
With Rayala Telangana Bill, the Congress will escape from this issue easily and go to elections without dividing the State.
If this happens, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and several others will become winners.
