PV Tortured, Babu To Go Scott- Free?

PV Tortured, Babu To Go Scott- Free?

Any economic wealth that India boasts of today and her foreign reserves are only because of one man: PV Narasimha Rao, the architect of the economic reforms in 1991.

Even PV was not spared by the system and nearly spent his whole life after retirement from politics, doing the rounds of courts. The issue had to do with a cash-for-vote scandal in 1993.

At that time, the Congress government was facing a no-confidence motion and some Congressmen without PV’s knowledge offered a bribe of Rs 1.33 crore to a ‘JMM’ Party MP to vote for the Congress.

Neither was PV directly present nor was there any mention of his name when the bribe was offered. Yet, he was named as an accused and had to spend his whole time after retiring from active politics, to get his name cleared.

But in the Revanth Reddy episode, Revanth was clearly seen on camera telling that he would have been named the President of the T-TDP at the ‘Mahanadu’ by his boss, but since he was busy, the coronation was put off. This makes it very clear who the ‘Boss’ is. But no steps seem to have been initiated to name the ‘boss’ also as an accused in the Revanth Reddy case.

When a stalwart like PV was tortured for no fault of his by the system, how can the same system allow the ‘boss’ to walk away from the episode untarnished? It will make the people lose whatever remaining confidence they have, in the system.
