Protecting Naidu is KCR's duty

Protecting Naidu is KCR's duty

Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had to face a piquant situation on Tuesday with regard to law and order in Hyderabad.

Thousands of Anganwadi workers from Andhra Pradesh had given Chalo Assembly call on Tuesday to represent their problems with Chandrababu Naidu. Had it been a united AP, Naidu would have faced a tough situation in preventing the rally.

If one would recall, when he was the Chief Minister in the earlier stint, Anganwadis took out a massive rally to Assembly and the police had resorted to lathicharge resulting in injuries to several women; and it brought a very bad name to Naidu those days.

But now, the Assembly is in Hyderabad which is the capital of Telangana and AP police have no jurisdiction over the law and order.

So, what should Naidu do? He did not make any request with the Telangana government to stop the agitating Anganwadi workers. And if any violent incident takes place in and around Assembly, the blame goes to KCR and not Naidu.

Realising this, the Telangana police swung into action and thwarted the rally of Anganwadi workers, arresting hundreds of them. And Naidu had the opportunity to blame KCR for unleashing force on AP Anganwadi workers.

The TRS reacted strongly to the double standards of Naidu. Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao went hammer and tongs at Naidu for alleging that Anganwadis from his State were arrested by the Telangana police while the former were coming to Hyderabad for staging dharna.

“At present, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is our guest. His safety and security is ours. We have also tightened security at Chandrababu Naidu’s farm house at our own cost. But Chandrababu Naidu’s claim that protesting AP Anganwadi workers were arrested at sight by Telangana police was far from truth”.
